Bio
Craig Johnston, a Managing Director and Partner based in the firm’s Toronto office, leads the firm’s transaction advisory practice and co-leads the firm’s commercial strategy practice.
Since re-joining GGA in 2017, Craig and his team have advised on several of the largest golf industry transactions. He supports private equity, REITs, family offices, resort owners, multi-course operators, and developers across all phases of the investment lifecycle – from buy-side due diligence and valuations to asset turnaround strategies, growth strategies, feasibility studies, and sell-side advisory.
Craig blends a decade of capital markets experience with a decade of golf industry experience to deliver grounded, actionable guidance for clients navigating complex decisions. He is recognized for developing and implementing growth-oriented strategies, and for helping clients build, acquire, or divest golf and leisure-related assets.
Craig is a Chartered Professional Accountant and former ranked equity research analyst at Scotia Capital. He is a frequent contributor and expert speaker at golf industry conferences and in leading industry publications. In 2022, he served on a task force that developed universal KPIs for the private club industry. Craig holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Queen’s University (Canada), where he was recognized as an Academic All-Canadian athlete.
