Bio
John brings over 34 years in the club industry to the GGA team. He began his career at the Bank of Montreal, and spent a number of years with Hilton Hotels before moving into the club world. During John’s career as a Club Manager, he worked for the Ottawa Hunt Club, London Hunt Club and Sunningdale Golf & Country Club.
Course renovations at each club provided John the opportunity to work with a number of well-known course architects, including, Graham Cooke, Thomas McBroom, Rees Jones and Doug Carrick. John also had the pleasure of working closely with tournament director Jocelyn Bourassa when the LPGA hosted its major Canadian event at the Ottawa Hunt Club and then later at the London Hunt Club.
During John’s tenure at Sunningdale, it became quite unique. It was one of the first clubs in Canada to receive recognition as an Audubon Sanctuary, and it also gave back to the community in a significant manner by hosting as many as 8 charity tournaments annually at the 36 hole facility.
John was also very involved with both the Canadian Society of Club Managers (CSCM) and the Club Managers Association of America (CMAA). He served on the CSCM national board for many years and as its President. In 2008, he was named Score Golf – Manager of the Year.
